Location

Just outside of Vektren (unknowingly)

Kane

It felt like the day was slow, and Kane thought the day was almost over, but in fact, it was barely midday. Kane had been training with his family, working hard and trying to become the best he could. He was exhausted though after the training, and just wanted a spot to relax. He always found the river in Aryn to be a place of relaxing, but little did he know that he made a mistake.

The training that he had was near a place called The Mountain's Nostrils, and it was near the western border of the pack. Because of this, when Kane went to find a quiet spot to relax, he didn't realize that he accidentally walked out of the border, into a part of the river that split into two. Kane sat on one side, and laid his head next to the water. It felt calm, and it felt good to Kane. He did notice the area seemed different than the rest of Aryn, but Kane continued to relax at the river's edge.

Eris

The pup had been out exploring on her own. In her time alone, she happened upon a small path in a particularly rocky part of the Duskwoods. She could hear the river, but this path seemed to tunnel through a mountain, and so the pup was fully unaware she actually left the territory. In fact, she was quite surprised she got this far without the meddling Enforcers noticing. There was one in particular, Daithi, who always caught her and brought her home, but Eris learned today he would have to guard the opposite side of the territory. Naturally, she took the opportunity to explore the Duskwood. Being a very new, unexplored part of her home, it was only natural she would unintentionally go too far out; this area just seemed safe, besides. There was probably no one else who could squeeze his or her way through this particular path!

Soon she happened to notice the river finally come into view. She had to continue down the path in order to get on the same level as it, but just as the pup was going to stop for a water break, a pale coat caught her eye. Instantly, she hid as a response to possibly being caught and scolded for traveling so far. At first, she thought it might be her father, due to the white and grey she saw, but quickly realized it was not. In fact, this wolf was one she never saw before in her entire life! While she was a bit startled, she, by nature, wanted to investigate. So she watched from the bushes as the male moved towards the river. Needless to say, the pup was mesmerized by the new face…

Kane

Kane was still resting at the river, but something started to feel off about the situation. He felt as if he was being watched, and the hairs on his neck were standing up. His training was serving him well, as his suspicions were correct. The bushes behind him started to rustle, and it was obvious that it was not the wind that was doing it. Kane stood up quickly, and was almost ready to run away. "Who's there?" He called out, he hoped that it was a member of Aryn, or specifically, his siblings or parents playing a joke on him. But their scents were no where to be found, and he knew that if a wolf was there, it was a complete stranger to him.

Eris

Honey orbs widened as watched the bushes continue to rustle. ”No, no stop!” She thought to herself in a panic. Suddenly the situation was becoming very real, this wolf was significantly larger than she was, and she did not know him; therefore he did not know her, or her status in the pack just behind the rock wall. That was perhaps her only true protection among wolves who knew her. Instinctively, she flattened to the ground, ears back as she tried to hide from the threat. She was a confident pup, but she was not so confident she would stupidly thrust herself into danger.

Kane

He walked closer to the area of the noise. He could smell the scent of another wolf, and was quick to spot the wolf in the bushes. Kane was rather surprised by the other wolf, because it was only a pup. Kane being a juvenile now, was on the large end of two wolves meeting for the first time in his life. Kane lowered himself to the ground, trying to be less scary."Hey there. What's your name? Mine is Kane." His tail was wagging, trying to show that he was friendly."It's okay, I won't hurt you."

Eris

The young pup peered up at the mostly pale wolf, pelt much like her fathers with several shades of cold grey and white. Only, upon this wolf's muzzle was a warm shade of tan that graduated towards his forehead. She studied the wolf's features for a few more moments; quickly realizing this wolf currently had nothing that indicated he was a threat. If anything, his oddly soft features were rather inviting, unlike many of the Vektreni she knew. Perhaps he was simply a friendly, lost wolf? Maybe he was one of the few in Vektren Eris never saw before?

"Eris..." She said simply, for some reason not explaining who her mother was to this wolf seemed natural. She didn't know him, and he probably didn't know her. The less she explained the safer she'd be, for now. "If you wont hurt me, why are you here? I never saw you before." She said inquisitively.

Kane

Kane thought about what she asked, and smiled as he spoke to her."I was just relaxing by the river. I've never been to a place like this before, and I thought it would be fun to look around." Kane then puffed his chest out, like a noble warden with honor would."I give you my word madam, and I am not one who goes back on his word." His tail wagged in delight as he tried to reassure the pup that he wouldn't hurt her. She seemed friendly and nice, and Kane always liked that about others.

Eris

Eris could quickly see this male was no normal Vektreni. He was far to soft. He was built like the enforcers she had seen, but any enforcer would likely scold her for wandering so far... He must have been in training. Eris stared at him, she was clearly being calculative while looking over his features. She found it was hard not to smile at his smile. As he puffed his chest fur, her eyes widened before quickly averting her gaze. His words... certainly an odd Vektreni indeed. "You better give me your word." She said in an authoritative tone. She stood and walked past him, her stride was confident, much unlike the way she acted mere moments ago. "Or you would be in trouble with my Mom!" she said with a smirk plastered on his muzzle.

Kane

Kane watched as she walked around him, and gave him a playful smirk. She talked about her mom being protective if he wasn't being truthful, and she had every right to be. "You have my word, I would rather make friends rather than enemies." His tail wagged in delight, and he hoped that she would accept his gesture of being friends.

Eris

The pup continued to smirk at his oddly friendly demeanor. “Good.” She said simply, keeping her posture strong and confident. A friend? Eris did enjoy having friends… “You want to be… my friend?” She asked a bit taken aback, cocking her head to further prove her surprise and confusion. Why would someone big and strong like him want to be friends with a little pup?

Kane
Kane looked at her as she smirked. She was certainly a spunky little wolf, and a friendly one at that. His brow arched as she asked if she can be her friend. Kane smiled, and put his head down towards the smaller pup."Eris, I would love to be your friend." He then gave her a wink, and his tail was wagging in the air. He was happy to make friends, and Eris was no different, even if she might not be of Aryn.

Eris

Eris smiled up at the pale wolf and wagged her tail with excitement. As he lowered his head closer to her, she sat up and booped his nose with her paw. By now, the pup was starting to realize he might not be a Vektreni at all! In fact, that would explain his whole non “Why are you looking at me?” attitude. “Well then, Kane… it seems like you have a new friend!” She grinned after giggling excitedly. “But, I think I should go before my mom or an Enforcer finds me… I don’t think they’d like our friendship.” She admitted with an embarrassed look. The pup was curious if Kane was in Vektren, or if she was outside it… but either would get the pair in trouble.

“I have to go, but maybe we’ll meet again!” The pup nodded to herself before heading back the way she came, sparing the pale wolf only a short look and smile before disappearing back through the crevasse in the rock wall.

Kane

Kane was happy to see her smile at him. He might have been her only friend for all he knew, but he didn't mind. She told him that she had to go, but hoped to see him again."I hope to see you again as well Eris! Goodbye!" He waited until she was out of sight, before returning to the lands of Aryn himself. It was good to have a friend, and he hoped that it was a friendship that would last a lifetime.

Summary: Eris accidentally explores just outside the Vektren territory only to meet the wolf named Kane. Luckily, he was more than happy to call her a friend.
